You will consider the responsibilities of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo)within a school or college environment to promote children’s, young people’s and
adults’ learning and development. By undertaking this unit, learners will develop confidence and expertise to mentor other colleagues and work in partnership with parents/carers (as applicable) and other professionals, to ensure intervention remains effective for children, young people and adults with special educational
needs and disabilities.

The theme selected will allow the learner to reflect on practice, use current research to produce recommendations for improvements to their own setting, implement these recommendations and summarise findings.
Course Entry Requirements – school placement required
To enrol on this NCFE Level 4 Advanced Practitioner course, you need to be already working or volunteering in a school at Level 3 to enrol on this Level 4 course.
NCFE recommends 100 hours of practical experience in the school classroom for between 3 – 6 hours per week. This observation can be completed by a qualified teacher, assessor, or a higher management level.
