This course follows the brand new 2021 school guidelines with up-to-date information. You need to be volunteering or working in a school to enrol on this course. Please see our Level 2 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools if you don’t currently have a work placement.
You will complete the following units on this Level 2 Teaching Assistant course:
During this work placement course, you will be assessed via practical assignments and written essays. Essays can be submitted online or via post, and your dedicated tutor will provide you with feedback and suggestions if changes are required. For the practical side, you need to work or volunteer in a school and need a colleague to act as an expert witness. There are no exams for this course.
Throughout your course, you’ll have access to a friendly tutor via telephone and email, who’ll mark your work and guide you through the course and help you prepare for your assignments. We’ll provide you with all the course materials you need, along with full feedback for each assignment. The feedback you receive will enable you to interact with your tutor as you complete each unit. We provide full tutor support during your course to ensure that your learning outcomes are met to a satisfactory standard.
This is an online course so you can study in the comfort of your own home. All of your course materials will be delivered either online or in the post if you opt for the printed version of the course.
As this is an online course, as soon as you enrol you’ll get instant access to all of the course materials so you can get started straight away. Study at your own pace from home and speak to your tutor as or when you need to.
The total Guided Learning Hours for this Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools is 321 hours and you’ll get a full 12 months to complete the course. This can be completed at home at your own pace – which means you can finish the course sooner if you wish to put in the study time!
As this is a work placement course, you’ll need a minimum of 51 hours in the classroom to complete the course.

This course has been designed to provide you with an understanding of the knowledge and skills required when working with children and young people. It covers a wide range of topics, from development and supporting positive behaviour to building professional relationships.
This course requires a 51-hour work placement in a school with children 5 years of age and above. Nursery and reception classes fall under the EYFS framework and do not qualify for this course. We recommend that your placement provides between 3-6 hours in the classroom per week.
As with all of our courses, you must be over 16 years of age to enrol.
This course is aimed at learners that are currently working or volunteering in a school or college setting.
To take this course you need to be currently working in a school or college as there are several practical assignments.
Yes, we offer flexible 0% finance to all of our students.
This course runs for 12-months, if you need some extra time, we will be happy to extend it for a small additional fee.
No, you are assessed throughout your course via written assignments. Tutor feedback is provided after each assignment and if any help is needed to pass an assignment, your tutor will be on hand to help.
