This CACHE Level 3 Diploma is part of the new RQF framework of courses for supporting teaching and learning that helps learners to achieve the apprenticeship standard for teaching assistants. It provides learners with an in-depth understanding of the knowledge needed to work with young people and children in schools and colleges. It covers all aspects of specialist support, from planning and delivery to assessment and support. This course is perfect for those working with teachers that need support with bilingual children, special educational needs and personal development and reflective practice.

Play and leisure are important and beneficial for children and young people and contribute to all areas of learning and development. Through making their own decisions and being able to experiment through play and leisure, children and young people will be developing skills and experience in several areas.

Entry Requirements – a school placement is required

To enrol on this NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma course you need to be working or volunteering in a school with key stage 1 and above as it includes observations in the classroom (nursery or reception classes are not eligible). You will need to compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your learning against the NCFE CACHE learning criteria.

NCFE CACHE recommends 200 hours of practical experience in the school classroom in total. This observation can be completed by a qualified teacher, assessor, or a higher level of management and can be completed in either a mainstream or special school.

How is this course assessed?

You must pass 16 mandatory units to complete this course. The first 4 units of this course are written assignments followed by 12 remaining units that are a mix of practical demonstrations in the classroom and written answers. Your work will be marked by your personal assessor and you won’t need to take an exam.
