This CACHE Level 3 Diploma is part of the new RQF framework for supporting teaching and learning that helps learners achieve the apprenticeship standard for teaching assistants. It gives learners an in-depth understanding of the knowledge needed to work with young people and children in schools and colleges. It covers all aspects of specialist support, from planning and delivery to assessment and support. This course is perfect for those working with teachers that need support with bilingual children, special educational needs and personal development and reflective practice.

When you are settling bilingual learners into a new environment, if possible, it can be helpful to use their preferred language. This is because it will help them to feel that the learning environment is accessible to them and develop their confidence in the new setting.
This unit is designed to give you an overview of:

We will all face a number of transitions in our lives; these will vary from life events that happen to all, to those that happen to only a few. Changes can be very difficult for children and young people as they can mean leaving behind familiar faces and routines and starting something new.
Play and leisure are important and beneficial for children and young people and contribute to all areas of learning and development. Through making their own decisions and being able to experiment through play and leisure, children and young people will be developing skills and experience in several areas.
To enrol on this NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma course, you need to work or volunteer in a school with key stage 1 and above, as it includes observations in the classroom (nursery or reception classes are not eligible). You will need to compile a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your learning against the NCFE CACHE learning criteria.
NCFE CACHE recommends 200 hours of practical experience in the school classroom. This observation can be completed by a qualified teacher, assessor, or a higher level of management and can be completed in either a mainstream or special school.
